The last post by Dark Horse of a tapioca based recipe sounds so yummy! Since tapioca is made of a root, and not a grain like other forms of starch, I am inclined to believe that this recipe would work for many on the Core Food Fast. There are several points to consider which I want to outline here.
One--most important--is that we will get the best results when we learn to check in with our bodies about which foods will serve. Using dowsing, kiniesiology, or some form of energy reading will take the guess work out of food selection.Everyone's body is different, and what is great for one might not be so great for another. So I encourage everyone to check in with these recipes to see if they should be added to their core food fast, or not.
Another point to consider is the purpose of the core food fast. The fast is designed to simplify our food intake to the point that the body can almost go on "automatic". Very little digestive energy is expended on this fast when it is done correctly, so there is more energy available for the digestive system to use for regeneration. There is a phase that sets in around the 3rd to 7th day where we suddenly feel bored of the foods, and resistant to eating any more of them.
If we can persist past this experience, we will go into a deeper cleansing stage, where our bodies can really regenerate on a cellular level. We will suddenly love the flavors of the foods themselves, and feel great without any cravings or desire for other foods. When we reach this stage, we begin to clean out the basement membrane (intercellular crystalline structure) and the mind gets really clear, the body feels lighter and energetic. We may experience this same cycle several times on the fast, as the body tends to cycle between deep cleansing and releasing, and rebuilding.
If you have done the core food fast more than once or twice, you may be able to vary the foods a bit more than first timers. Resist the temptation to include many things which are not on the fasting foods list, as diversity that would normally be a sign of healthy eating, is actually non-beneficial when we are fasting. It is best to keep a short list of simple foods while you are on it.
Now I am going to share a few variations to the core food fast that I have seen used successfully. One was by a person who was completely allergic to potatoes. This person ended up eating only sweet potatoes, winter squashes, parsnips, rutabagas, and carrots. She was able to get fantastic results with these few roots (and the other elements of the fast).
I have also seen some people go a juices only fast. Usually this evolves only after the person has been on the core food fast for several weeks, and is feeling very good and increasing energy levels. Juices only can be a remarkable experience, as long as we are sensitive to our body's requirements and don't stay on it beyond the first feelings of hunger. It requires being able to sip on fresh juices all day long, if necessary, along with plenty of water.
After having done the Core Food Fast at least 8 times in my life (I have actually lost count), and now having a digestive system that is in optimal condition, I have not added any foods to the fast this time. Instead, I have been guided to change the proportions of roots and potatoes to greens; I am now using about 40% to 60% raw greens with my root veggies. I do not recommend making this kind of shift until your digestive system is really regenerated; if we eat too many raw foods too soon, they will dampen the digestive fire and actually inhibit the regenerative process. It is far better to get the vital life force from fresh juices in the beginning.
Blessings to all!
